The "Facts checked by Journeyed" badge

A hotel can show a small "Facts checked by Journeyed" badge, or a short table of its checked facts, on its own website. This page says what that means, what it costs (nothing) and what it never does.

What the badge means

Every fact on a Journeyed hotel page has a source and the date it was checked. For a hotel's own facts, such as check-in time, parking, fees and pets, the source is the hotel's own website: our crawler reads it, and the hotel page shows the exact page it read and the day. The badge carries the month of the hotel's latest check, and means those facts were read from their source then. It is not a rating, a recommendation or a rank.

It is free

The badge, the fact table and the structured-data line are free for every hotel, claimed or not. Nothing is sold with them and nothing is asked in return: a hotel does not have to link to Journeyed, show the badge or claim its profile to be listed or to have its facts checked.

It never changes a score or a rank

Showing the badge, linking to Journeyed or embedding the fact table never changes a Journeyed Score, a rank on any list or the result of any tool for AI assistants. Scores and ranks come from published code over sourced data, described in our methodology, and where a hotel links from is not one of its inputs.

The link is nofollow

The badge links back to the hotel's page here with rel="nofollow", and it may stay that way. We ask for no other link and never trade anything for one.

Who runs this

Journeyed is operated by Cloute LLC, which also builds websites for some hotels. Being one of its customers has no part in a hotel's facts, score or badge, and no hotel needs to buy anything to show it.

Getting a fact corrected

If a fact is wrong, write to hello@journeyed.org with the page and the fact, or see Corrections. We check it against its source and correct it, and the checked date changes with the fix. The badge month follows the latest check on the next build.

Claiming a profile

Claiming is free and separate from the badge: a verified claim lets a hotel confirm facts directly. See Claim a profile.

How to add it

Every hotel page with checked facts has a section called Show these facts on your website, with the badge code, the fact table and a sameAs line for Hotel or LodgingBusiness structured data. Hotels whose website is a page on a chain's site usually cannot add HTML there; the badge is for hotels that run their own website.
